Tomica Cars January 2019 to May 2019 Release Dates – Devil Z, 86GR, & Lamborghini (Updated!)

Updated: May release images on 10 March ’19

It’s that time again, time to drool over the delicious releases of one of the best JDM diecast manufacturers out there. I’m overly hyped because my favourite cars are coming.

The information so far is mainly by text, images will be uploaded as soon as I can get my hands on some.

January 2019

There will be two basic releases:

No.31 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1No.91 CoCo Ichibune store kitchen car

  • No. 91 CoCo Ichibanya Kitchen Toyota TownAce Car/Food Truck – replacing the Mercedes-Benz AMG SLS
  • No. 31 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 with first edition colour & variant – replacing Toyota FJ Cruiser Patrol Car

Tomica Premium

No.02 Toyota Celica 2000 GT-FOURNo.09 Nissan Fairlady Z

I called this release. After spotting a lot of classic JDMs getting released under the Premium line, I predicted that there would be a Nissan Fairlady Z… voila:

  • No. 02 Toyota Celica 2000 GT-FOUR – replacing Morita Fire Truck
  • No. 09 Nissan Fairlady Z (seems to be in the style of the Devil Z432 from Wangan Midnight) – replacing its cousin Fairlady 300ZX Twin Turbo

Tomica Gift Set

  • Construction Site Gift Set

February 2019

Here’s where Lamborghini ups the ante in the Tomica inventory with the world’s fastest SUV and a trailer house.

  • No. 89 Isuzu Giga Trailer House – replacing the Suzuki Carry
  • No. 16 Lamborghini Urus with first edition colour – replacing the Isuzu JR Bus

I didn’t expect to like the Urus that much, but now with pictures of the real casting – I think I’ll be picking it up.

March 2019

No. 113 Toyota Hiace

There’s going to be a very interesting Honda vehicle in March, along with a unique Toyota Hiace van:

  • No. 99 Pizza Delivery Bike
  • No. 113 Toyota Hiace with first edition roof-rack variation (I think it’s a roof-rack)
  • No. 128 Fire Department truck with Hyper Mist Blower

Tomica Gift Set

  • Shinkansen Transport Trailer Set (subject to change)

April 2019

Yes, yes, yes! A Isuzu Signer truck and the ever awesome kei-car off-roader Suzuki Jimny! It better have awesome suspension like the real thing.

  • No. 28 Isuzu Signer – replacing the Yanmar Combine YH-590
  • No. 14 Suzuki Jimny – replacing the Suzuki Escudo

Tomica Premium

  • No. 08 Nissan Silvia S13 – replacing the Lexus RC-F GT500
  • No. 15 Lamborghini Diablo SV – replacing the Impreza 22B-STi (noo!)

The Silvia definitely looks great with the details. It looks to be an entirely new casting compared to the Initial D release, which uses a casting of yore.
The Lamborghini Diablo is a welcome addition to the line, especially with pop-up headlights and opening doors. However, I’m quite curious as to Tomica’s move that only European sports cars in the Premium line have first edition releases – why that odd specificity?

May 2019

No.28 Isuzu signerNo.14 Suzuki Jimny

Looks like the Subaru Forester that was rumoured to be released in April is coming in May instead! It’ll be available in two colours: blue and a white first edition. The first edition seems to be of a specific spec of the Subaru Forester, take a look at the yellow pinstriping on the lower body. The other release is a Tomica school bus in yellow.

  • No. 49 Toyota Yokonen Bus
  • No. 115 Subaru Forester in blue (white first edition)

  1. No. 115: that’s a Ferrari. No way they’re gonna announce a “hidden” car given the current pattern.
    As for the rest…
    1. C7 ZR1?! Whoa. Please come in yellow, though, just to compliment the 2017 Ford GT.
    2. If they’re making DevilZ, I sure hope they make the rivaling Blackbird 930. Also they should make more Porsches. GT2RS, perhaps?
    3. Oh great, the Lamborghini Anus. Whatever. Next!
    4. The trailer home intrigues me more, anyway. What would that look like, and how many functions would it have?
    5. March seems like there might be a dark-horse pick. Not sure, though.
    6. JIMNY!!! Please have chunky wheels. That is all.
    7. S13 Silvia coming to Premium soon. But the Diablo SV is the more intriguing pick.
    8. Tomica 4D Lamborghini. Wow. They were able to record a Lambo’s sound for this one, eh?
Overall it does seem as though Tomica’s basic/sub-premium lines are building off the momentum of the last two years. This is encouraging.
